MADE IT MONDAY: Repurposing for Halloween (My current project)

// September 24th, 2012 // Sewing

Let me start by telling you that this is a work in progress that I am sharing today.  For Halloween my daughter decided she wanted to be a cowgirl.  Yee Hah!  Well my crafty mind went to work immediately.  All in all, the costume is quite easy.  A cowboy hat, bandana, a pair of jeans and a vest.  We had all but the vest.

A did a search on eBay and found a men’s suede shirt and snatched it up for $7.00.

The idea is to repurpose this into a child’s vest with some fringe.  I made a quick pattern using one of my daughters short sleeved shirts and a paper bag.

And strategically cut the shirt so I could utilize the existing buttons.  I’m trying to keep this as simple as possible!

Now I just have to piece this together, finish off the seams and get some fringe on there!  I’ll keep you posted on the progress!
