Hi everyone! Here are some photos of my Sunday afternoon private art party *lol*
I decided to sit down and whip up some home made glimmer paints. I really love them, and while I was at Jerry’s Artarama a couple weeks ago, I came across an 8 oz bottle of iridescent acrylic ink- which got me thinking. I have a bottle of Ink Potion No 9, and TONS of other ink products…so why not try a new way to make spray ink? I had purchased some 1 oz spray bottles a while back from midwestbottles.com- they are AWESOME! So I had those lying around empty. Here’s my recipe, and it worked great.
fill bottle 1/2 acrylic iridescent ink
a few squirts (as much color as YOU like) of Dr. Martin’s Bombay India ink
add some Pearlex powders in a complementary color- so if I made a blue ink, I added blue pearlex
about 1/8 bottle of Ink Potion No 9
about 1/8 bottle of water, to make it more “sprayable”
Shake it up!
In the darkest color I made, which is a charcoal black, I used Adirondack ink in Slate, and Memories reinker in black. That’s the only one I didn’t use the Bombay in.
I buy EVERYTHING on sale. Bombay inks can be expensive, but I had used a 50% coupon and got the set for a good price.
Now, I have a set of color coordinated spray mists that go with my inks for painting! I used them with a TCW stencil to make a painting. I really like using spray inks that are darker colors so they show up well, so that’s why I chose the palette I have here. Anyone else have a good recipe for glimmer spray?
