Antique Button Bracelet

// July 20th, 2012 // Art Jewelry, Beads, & Glass

I have always loved buttons.   My grandmother had a cookie tin full of them.  When I was younger I would sit for hours and examine all of the buttons.  There were big ones and little ones, plain ones and decorated ones.  It was a treasure for anyone who loves buttons.

On a recent trip to the local Antique Shop I found a bag of buttons.  They were in a fabric bag, so I couldn’t see what was inside.   I gladly scooped them up and brought them home.

Now, buttons can be used in many different ways other than their intended purpose.  They can be used in Art Journals and Mixed Media projects as embellishments.   They can be used in crochet and sewing projects.  They can also be used to make jewelry.   It took me a while to decide just what I anted to do with them.  Finally I decided to make bracelets, this way I could show off my new treasures.
I made a quick video tutorial on how I make my bracelets

   Also here is a quick diagram i made to show you how to string your beads.

You can do this project with any type of buttons.  If you decide to give it a try, please share your finished project at www.thingscrafty.ning.com.   I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
