Art Journal Therapy

// December 28th, 2011 // Mixed Media, Journals & Papercraft

This is my newest page.

Done in a Moleskine watercolor book.
I was going through a rough time with a friend- so bad that I wasn’t sure we’d be friends any longer, and this is what came out.

First, add a little torn book paper (mine is from an old dictionary), and some Tissue tape (mine is Tim Holtz). Add a few strips of masking tape, too.

Paint a wash of yellow watercolor over it all. Dry. Add a wash of pewter watercolor (shimmery!!). Dry.

Punch some circles from scrapbooking paper, and stick them down.

Put some black acrylic paint on a paper plate, palette, whatever. Dip a Coke bottle cap into the paint and stamp onto the page.

Repeat with white acrylic paint and a Gaterade bottle cap. Dry.

Cut a heart out of paper- old book paper, a brown paper bag, whatever. Stick it down. Paint with teal acrylic paint (this color is from Ranger’s Studio line) and dry.

Add some more punched circles.

In a very messy fashion, go around the heart with black acrylic paint.
Get that aggression out!
Cut words out of magazines, newspapers, books, etc, to say what you need to say.
Stick them down, and use a black Pitt pen around them.
lay down a stencil (I used a leafy/branchy thing) and paint through it with red acrylic paint (I used Ranger Studio paint).
There you go!
I’m happy to report that it took about a week and a half but things are worked out and better now.
