Butterfly Art Journal Page

// October 16th, 2011 // Mixed Media, Journals & Papercraft

I really LOVE the way this page turned out!! The page had already been sprayed with various shimmer sprays on a day I decided to just work on some back grounds….the goal was to make the pages anything but WHITE!

When I decided to start this page, I pulled out this SUPER AWESOME, HUGE, WONDERFUL butterfly stamp from Viva Las Vegas Stamps. This beauty has gotten so much use. I reach for her all the time!!

To start, I adhered some old dictionary paper to the page with matte medium.

Slapped on some yellow watercolor paint and some Twinkling H2Os. Was I careful? Uh, no!! Just slap it on there!! Dried it with the heat tool, then stamped the butterflies using Staz On ink (Jett Black). Dipped a bottle cap in black acrylic paint and ‘stamped’ on the page (an idea I saw someone else do), and repeated with the white acrylic paint. Dry with heat tool (I am impatient- almost ALWAYS dry with the heat tool).

Put a little acrylic paint on your craft sheet, palette, or whatever you use, and run an old credit card through it, and squiggle the paint on the page. Pretty messy and awesome, don’t ya think?!
Now’s the time I add my journaling, if I am going to write on the page. Add more acrylic paint if ya want.

Now stamp a couple of butterflies on card stock using Staz On ink. Paint with watercolors and/or Twinkling H2Os. Dry and cut out. I stuck them in the book using Miracle Tape from Viva Las Vegas Stamps.

What do you think of this page? I’d love your feedback!
